Summer Safety Tips

Summer is upon us! America's favorite season officially kicks on Tuesday, June 20th.

As with every season comes the opportunity to discuss the importance of safety for you and your colleagues. All seasons should be taken seriously as they demand worker acclimatization to the ever changing temperatures.

Let's tackle the usual suspects that can potentially interfere with the joys of Summer!

Heat Exposure
Heat stress is a big one. If you don't follow OSHA's campaign to beat the heat, you are in serious trouble. More importantly, there are set standards associated with heat stress that need to be followed.

Employers are responsible for providing workplaces free of known safety hazards. This includes protecting workers from extreme heat. An employer with workers exposed to high temperatures should establish a complete heat illness prevention program.
  • Provide workers with water, rest and shade.
  • Allow new or returning workers to gradually increase workloads and take more frequent breaks as they acclimatize, or build a tolerance for working in the heat.
  • Plan for emergencies and train workers on prevention.
  • Monitor workers for signs of illness.

CPR and First Aid
Let's face it, being certified to perform CPR and first aid is a must for every workplace and job site.

Did you know one of the leading injuries suffered during fourth of July is first degree burns?
Part of your CPR certification training is first aid. Knowing how to treat burns will come in handy.

If you see someone has collapsed or is unconscious. remember these three C's:

Check - Check the scene to see if it's safe and check victim to see if he/she is responsive
Call - Call 911 if the victim is unresponsive. Send someone to make the call.
Care - Start CPR (American Red Cross Video)

We develop written programs and provide safety training for these topics and others:

  9. Laminate flooring is also a great option for people who are on a budget. Because it is composite, laminate flooring is more affordable than other flooring types. Plus, laminate flooring is easy to install, so you won't have to spend a lot of time on the project. Laminate Flooring Nashville
