June is Trench Safety Month

 

June 2023 has been declared “Trench Safety Month” by the National Utility Contractors Association. This declaration of safety further highlights the association's innovative educational and safety program, the “Trench Safety Stand Down” week, that is held on June 19 - 23, 2023.

Every June since 2016 NUCA has held the innovative Trench Safety Stand Down (TSSD) Week for the utility construction industry. This year’s event will occur at hundreds of jobsites across the nation, reaching tens of thousands of workers.

Every year, the CWEA President presents the President’s Award to CWEA members who have made ongoing and significant contributions to the CWEA community and our profession. There are never more than 4 of these awards presented in any given year, and they are completely at the discretion of the CWEA President to award.

National Safety Stand-Down to Prevent Falls in Construction Week - May 1-5, 2023

Anyone who wants to prevent hazards in the workplace can participate in the Stand-Down. Companies can conduct a Safety Stand-Down by taking a break to have a toolbox talk or another safety activity, such as conducting safety equipment inspections, developing rescue plans, or discussing job-specific hazards.
