Revisions made to Option B draft: Creating a Standalone Indoor Standard for Heat Illness Prevention



Cal/OSHA has gathered public advisory meetings to develop a proposed regulation for minimizing heat-related illness among workers in indoor places of employment.

At these advisory meetings, stakeholders and the public have an opportunity to provide input for this proposed standard.

Here are the latest revisions from the February 16, 2018 meeting.

OSHA Increases Their Penalty Amounts by 2%

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has adjusted their penalty amounts last month by 2% to reflect current inflation rates.

As of January 2, 2018, OSHA has set the following civil penalty amounts for these violations:
  • Serious/Other-Than-Serious/Posting Requirements = $12,934 per violation
  • Failure to Abate = $12,934 per day beyond the abatement date
  • Willful or Repeated = $129,336 per violation.
